This Celebrate Diversity series painting (70 x 90 cm oil on canvas) from the GLAC Studio, Sønderborg, Denmark, made by Artist Gomathi Siva Sankaran shows the 400-year strong relationship between the two countries Denmark and India. The Fort Dansborg was built in Tharangambadi, Tamil Nadu, India in 1622, with the support from the King of Tanjore Raghunatha Nayak who had provided the land to the King of Denmark Christian IV for a rent of Rs.3,111 per year. Rigsadmiral Ove Gjedde had been instrumental in building this initial relationship. And now the two countries have entered into a Green Strategic partnership with an ambitious vision to reduce CO2 emissions by 70% by the year 2030. The Prime Ministers Mette Frederiksen and Narendra Modi have set in motion this partnership that will demonstrate to the world that delivering on ambitious climate and sustainable energy goals is possible.
The original painting was shipped to Shri. Narendra Modi Ji (The PM's Office in New Delhi, India) on the 8th of May 2022 from Sønderborg, Denmark.
